WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT YOU, WHICH IS ALMOST NOTHING.

Last updated 24 September 2026. This describes what the beta actually does today. It was written by the people who built IdleNet, not by a lawyer, and it will be reviewed before IdleNet is offered at scale.

THIS WEBSITE

• No accounts, no sign up, no cookies set by us, no analytics and no tracking scripts. The page you are reading runs one script of its own and talks to nothing.
• The site is hosted on Vercel, and their servers keep the ordinary request logs any web host keeps, including your IP address. We do not add anything to them and do not build profiles from them.
• The fonts come from Google Fonts, so loading a page tells Google your IP address, as it would on any site that uses them.

THE WINDOWS APP: WHAT STAYS ON YOUR COMPUTER

Everything IdleNet records about you is a file in your own Windows profile, under %APPDATA%\IdleNet. Nothing in this list is sent to us, because there is nowhere to send it: the beta has no account system and no server of ours.

• settings.json your preferences: start with Windows, monthly data cap, the metered-connection rule, the reward preference you picked, a random id for the installation, and the time you gave consent.
• metering.json how long sharing ran and which days reached the qualifying length. Durations and dates, nothing about what passed through.
• ledger.json the record of rewards. Empty, because rewards are not switched on.
• credentials.json the bandwidth network's application key, encrypted with Windows DPAPI so only your Windows account can read it.
• usage.json how much the bandwidth network has relayed this month. It exists only to enforce your monthly cap, and it is never used to work out a reward.
• consent-log.json the history of every time sharing was agreed to or withdrawn on this computer, with the date, the installation id and the version of the software that showed the agreement. The bandwidth network requires that record to be kept, and it stays here rather than being sent to them.

Uninstalling removes the program. Deleting that folder removes everything it stored.

THE WINDOWS APP: WHAT LEAVES YOUR COMPUTER

• Your shared bandwidth, and your IP address with it. That is what sharing is. While it is on, other people's ordinary web traffic passes through your connection, and the sites they reach see your address rather than theirs.
• Whatever the bandwidth network's own software collects to run that service and count participation. That software is Cash Raven's, it runs inside IdleNet, and their terms govern that part.
• One identifier of ours. IdleNet generates a random id for your installation and passes it to the bandwidth network so participation can be attributed to that install later. It is random, it is not derived from your machine or your name, and it is the only thing about you that IdleNet itself sends anywhere.
• Nothing else. No analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry of ours. It does not read your files, your browsing, your accounts or the contents of any traffic.

WHAT THE APP READS ABOUT YOUR MACHINE

The connection panel shows your network adapter's name, its link speed and the bytes Windows has counted on it since it came up. That is read locally so you can see what your connection is doing. It is never sent anywhere and never used to work out a reward.

WHEN REWARDS START

Rewards are not active. When they are, delivering an asset to a wallet will mean handling a wallet address and the jurisdiction you tell us you are in. This document will be updated before that happens rather than after.
